Aging Loved Ones

It is so hard to watch a parent age especially when they have an underlying condition that is aging them faster than expected.
It breaks my heart to see my mom deal with the struggles of battling kidney disease.  Her once spunky, brassy, bold self has now become a shadow of her old self that quietly observes the world around her.  She has few words to say nowadays but I sure love hearing her say “I miss you” and “I love you” now and then.  I am blessed and grateful that I can still hear these words from her and I love it when she surprises me with a little spunk too.  I know it is difficult on my dad as well.  He works hard everyday to help her stay well while running the household.

I am so grateful for the doctors, nurses and family who set their own needs aside to take care of her needs.  It takes amazing people to be able to do this kind of work and I wish I had the strong gut and lack of distance to do it myself.

The bible says:

“In a similar way, you young people must submit to the elders. All of you must clothe yourselves with humility for the sake of each other, because: “God opposes the arrogant, but gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5 NIV

May God give you the grace to help your elders and the abundance of love to shed upon them.

Love,

Jennifer

P.S.  Mom and Dad, I love you with all of my heart.
