Hi all, today I met with my first client! I was a little anxious about starting some projects on my own but thought I would take a leap of faith! Since the Harvey flooding, I noticed there is a need for a little extra help on the home rebuilding process in my area so I posted an ad in my neighborhood and received a great response!
Here is how my first client visit went…
To be honest, I was on the verge of canceling on my client because I was scared that I was not ready for this. My confidence is a little frazzled because I have been out of the architecture field for almost two years but she was excited, eager and more than willing to work with our schedule conflicts to make this happen!
Of course all the things that could go wrong with my day happened the day of our meeting! My husband had a last minute out-of-town meeting so he was not going to be home to watch the baby, I had no one to watch her and she refused to take nap for the first time ever! Worried that I would sound like a total sketch I explained this to my client and to my surprise she still wanted me to come with the baby! Good thing she is a grandmother of many, completely understood and she had toys handy too! My little girl did great and had a good time, thank God! I enjoyed learning about my client’s life, ideas and hopes for their home. I am really excited to move forward.
This project is a small one, a closet remodel (gotta start somewhere), but may lead to a potential whole house renovation! I really hope that I can meet my client’s needs and expectations of designing the perfect luxury closet so that she will continue to use my services to make her dream renovations in her beloved home reality! This home of more than 32 years is one she and her husband raised their children in and is very special to them! It is so sweet to see the sentimental meaning in a home of someone else.
So excited to share with you the details of the project as it progresses! I will update this post so stay tuned!
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 NIV
My hope for the future is to do good work with faith and the love of Christ!
Have a beautiful weekend!
I sent the preliminary drawings to my client for review and she was happy with the outcome. Because it is a low budget project she is using these drawings to have her cabinet builders move forward with the build-out. Typically, more detailed drawings are provided but since her husband is in the construction field, my drawing was enough to give him direction on what she wanted. I will update with photos of the final build-out when it is complete.
Also, I am happy to say that they are ready for me to move forward with the master bathroom design! I will share my design progress in a separate post.
Thanks for reading!
